The rise of CBD in the beauty world

CBD (the short form of cannabidiol) has made its way into the beauty world and is fast becoming a must-have in our day to day beauty regimes.

Derived from the Cannabis plant, at first thought the question arises “cAn iT gEt yOu HiGh?” – the short answer – no. The substance is “non-psychoactive” unlike THC which is the psychoactive part of the Cannabis plant.

Now that that’s out of the way, why has everyone suddenly jumped on the bandwagon? Literally until a year ago it was no-where to be seen in the mainstream beauty sphere, yet fast forward 2019 it is literally everywhere. In fact, The Independent reported that “due to the increased interest in cannabis for medicinal, recreational and cosmetic use, the CBD industry is expected to reach an estimated value of $22bn (£16bn) by 2022.”

As the beauty industry learns more about CBD, more brands are likely to release CBD infused products. The oil is non-comedogenic, so does not encourage breakouts by clogging pores, it prevents excess production of sebum; ensuring your skin’s oil stays balanced and it’s anti-inflammatory.  Due to its calming properties, it’s also great for soothing acne, psoriasis and inflamed skin

Turns out, it ticks most boxes when it comes to good skincare ingredients. So here’s a few CBD products to add to your skincare routine:
